Biblical Context
Exodus 35:10-19 calls the wise-hearted to contribute to building the tabernacle and its sacred furnishings according to God's command; it outlines many pieces and garments that symbolize devotion, order, and covenant loyalty.
Neville's Inner Vision
Notice how the command is given to the wise-hearted to build all that the LORD hath commanded. In Neville’s sense, the tabernacle is the inner sanctuary of your own consciousness, a state you can actively assemble. The ark stands for the truth you carry within; the mercy seat and the veil symbolize grace perceived and the boundaries of attention. The table of showbread nourishes your mind; the candlestick and its oil provide light when awareness is steady; the incense altar is the rising fragrance of devoted feeling; the altar of burnt offering, the laver, and the holy garments are your acts, cleansing, and ministry. When you assume that these things already exist in you, you do not worship an outside shrine but align with the inner law. Covenant loyalty means remaining in tune with the I AM, choosing to serve this inner order rather than the shifting world. The outer details describe an inner discipline: order, purity, service, devotion. You are the builder, the priest, and the sanctuary. So imagine and feel it real, and the inner tabernacle awakens to reflect your conscious state.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume you already stand before your inner sanctuary and place each article in its place, affirming 'I AM' is its source. Feel the reality of this temple now, and carry the sense of order into your day.
