Inner Covenant Cleansing
Exodus 34:11-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Exodus 34 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God commands to drive out the inhabitants, lest a covenant with them become a snare. He orders the destruction of their altars, images, and groves so you worship only the LORD.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within me the land is my consciousness; the Amorite, Canaanite, and other peoples are beliefs I have tolerated. When the I AM drives them out, I am clearing space for a singular worship. A covenant with the inhabitants becomes a snare whenever I attach to familiar pictures or fears. I destroy the altars, images, and groves of past conditioned responses; I worship the LORD, the I AM, alone. The word jealousy is not a threat but a declaration of inner loyalty: I refuse to share my attention with other gods. If I join with the inner inhabitants, I go a whoring after their gods and feed their sacrifices. I will not make molten gods; I am not bound to fixed pictures of God outside my inner life. This is purification, a separation of the inner life so that the One I AM is my sole ruler.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the state: I am the I AM; I drive out every inner idol and snare, and I worship the I AM within alone. Stay in that feeling until it is your felt reality.
