Biblical Context
Exodus 31:7-9 lists the tabernacle and its furniture—the ark, mercy seat, table, candlestick, altar of incense, altar of burnt offering, and laver—showing how holy order frames the dwelling of God. It presents a sacred architecture that guards the Presence among the people.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this inner view, the outer sanctuary becomes the map of your own consciousness. The tabernacle stands as the organized space within you where awareness dwells; the ark of the testimony is the storehouse of remembered truth you carry in the I AM, the memory of what you accept as real. The mercy seat upon it is the summit of your I AM presence, where ideas and feelings align to sustain reality. Each piece of furniture within the tabernacle becomes a habit of mind: the table with its bread as sustained fellowship with your higher Self; the pure candlestick lighting the mind with clarity; the altar of incense as the rising prayer you breathe into your day. The altar of burnt offering represents the shedding of old identities, the laver the cleansing of perception. When you dwell in this inner sanctuary, you are faithful to the covenant of awareness—that what you affirm with feeling becomes your world. The Holy One is not distant; God is your own I AM, present wherever your attention remains fixed.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and step inside your inner tabernacle; declare 'I AM' as the mercy seat over your thoughts. Revise one limiting belief by placing it on the altar and feeling the light of your Presence burn it away, leaving clarity.
