Biblical Context
A ram is offered for consecration; Aaron and his sons lay hands on its head, the blood is applied to parts of their bodies and garments, and portions are waved and burnt as offerings to sanctify them.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this passage the ram of consecration mirrors your living self, deliberately set apart for God. The laying on of hands marks a turn of attention toward a new state of being. The blood is not violence but the transformation of habitual energy into holy life—your life-force directed to the right ear (to hear the true word), the right hand (to act in alignment), and the right foot (to walk the path). The anointing oil and the garments signify your awareness anointing every thought and image you wear, so that even your outer attire reflects inner sanctity. Sprinkling the blood on Aaron and his garments shows that your inner sanctuary—your thoughts and feelings alike—are refined by loving intent. The wave and heave offerings symbolize the continual giving of self to the divine purpose, the heart and breath of your life offered and accepted. In time, the breast of the wave offering becomes your portion, meaning your heart is joined to the work of your higher self as your own life unfolds in holiness.
Practice This Now
Practice: Close your eyes and assume the role of Aaron. Feel yourself sanctified; imagine the blood of awareness touching your right ear, right hand, and right foot, then offer your life as a wave offering to the Lord, sealing the new you with quiet certainty.
