Biblical Context
Exodus 29:1-9 describes the consecration of Aaron and his sons—washing, garments, and anointing—to set them apart for priestly service. The passage points to an inner purification and sacred posture for worship within the self.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here the outer rites are but mirrors of your inner state. The bullock and the two rams stand as unblemished beliefs you offer to the I AM, not to be worshipped as things, but to certify your willingness to act as consciousness. The washing with water is the cleansing of judgment from your mind, a purification of attention so that it flows cleanly within the temple of your being. The garments—the coat, the robe of the ephod, the breastplate, the girdle, the mitre—are the thoughts and dispositions you choose to wear: clarity, discernment, obedience, reverence. The anointing oil is the very oil of life poured upon your head, saturating every part with the awareness that you are the temple and the temple-keeper. The consecration of Aaron and his sons becomes a perpetual invitation to minister, here and now, from the stillness of your true I AM. When you accept these symbols as inner states, you awake to holiness as a living, present reality and your world rearranges itself to reflect that crown.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and enter the door of your inner tabernacle. Wash in the water of acceptance, clothe yourself with the robes of discernment, crown your mind with holy awareness, and pour the I AM oil over you while declaring, 'I am consecrated to minister unto the Presence within.'
