Biblical Context
Exodus 28:33-34 describes the hem of the robe decorated with pomegranates and bells around its edge.
Neville's Inner Vision
Though the text speaks of pomegranates and bells upon the hem, in the living silence it reveals your own border of awareness. The blue, purple, and scarlet fruits are not colors on cloth but the many states of consciousness you entertain within the I AM. The bells are not metal chiming in a tabernacle, but the steady ring of attention you keep as you walk through perception. When you dwell in the feeling that you are already united with the Presence, every movement of life is watched by a golden gleam within, and the edge of your self-hood becomes a divine boundary rather than a fearsome limit. The alternating fruit and bell teaches you to harmonize sweetness and alertness; imagination is to be kept awake at the hem of your day, so that no action outside can intrude without your consent. You are the high priest of your inner temple; the covenant loyalty is your willingness to assume that what you desire already exists as you imagine it. By inwardly circling your boundary with reverent, vivid feeling, you invite the Presence to be with you in every moment.
Practice This Now
Stand or sit, close your eyes, and imagine the hem of your robe edged with pomegranates in blue, purple, and scarlet, with golden bells between them. As you breathe, revise any lack by insisting, 'I AM present,' and feel it real as you dwell in covenant with the Presence.
