Biblical Context
Aaron bears the names of Israel on the breastplate, a perpetual memorial before the LORD. The Urim and Thummim rest upon his heart, signifying the ongoing bearing of Israel's judgment before God.
Neville's Inner Vision
This text is not distant ritual but your inner state. The breastplate is the chest of your consciousness, where the names—the many selves and relationships you hold—are inscribed as a constant remembrance before the I AM. The 'breastplate of judgment' marks the heart as a tribunal of awareness, where you observe every movement of mind without condemnation, guided by the inner light of Urim and Thummim—the symbols of illumination you place over your own heart. When you enter the 'holy place' within, you enter a sanctuary where you bear Israel's judgments before the LORD continually, i.e., you hold the effects of your thoughts and beliefs in the living presence of God. The Presence of God is internal: the I AM you are aware of; your imagination becomes the instrument by which you shape reality. By assuming states of fulfillment and revising outworn beliefs, you illuminate the path for every part of you and for others.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and place the names you bear upon your heart as if they rest in a breastplate. Then revise any judgment by affirming, 'I AM the judge and the vessel of divine discernment.'
