Biblical Context
Exodus 28:17-20 describes four rows of stones set in gold on the breastplate, symbolizing an inner order of holiness. The stones represent states of consciousness that guard covenant loyalty and reveal God's Presence within.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the I AM wears a garment of awareness called life. The four rows of stones are not outside jewels but stages of consciousness you freely choose to inhabit. Each row—first sardius, topaz, carbuncle; second emerald, sapphire, diamond; third ligure, agate, amethyst; fourth beryl, onyx, jasper—represents a facet of covenant loyalty and the inner presence with God. In Neville’s teaching, imagination fashions reality; therefore you set these stones in gold-settings of your mind, so holiness becomes a steady state, not a sudden event. When you align with these inner stones—truth, courage, love, and gratitude—you experience the Presence of God as the I AM’s quiet supervision within. The outer priesthood becomes an inner priesthood: you are the breastplate’s wearer, its stones, and its gold, all witnessed by your own consciousness. This is true worship: a deliberate arranging of states until their harmony becomes your habitual life.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes, breathe, and place the four rows of stones on your chest in imagination; for each row, affirm a quality (row1: loyalty, row2: peace, row3: vision, row4: worship) and feel it real as you wear this inner breastplate.
