Biblical Context
Exodus 28:1 describes appointing Aaron and his sons from among Israel to serve as priests, signaling an inner act of consecration and dedicated service.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through Neville's lens, Exodus 28:1 is a manual for consecrating consciousness rather than a historical rite. Aaron represents the I AM within you—the constant awareness that neither comes nor goes and that can minister to every moment of your life. His sons symbolize faculties of mind—attention, imagination, memory, reason—carefully named and set apart to serve the one life that animates them. When you appoint them, you are declaring, in the theater of your mind, that you will not let stray thoughts govern you, but rather that your inner officer will govern and align every movement with the one Presence. To minister unto me in the priest's office is to attend to your inner state with fidelity—imagination directing perception, faith guiding action, quiet worship guiding everyday work. The clause 'from among the children of Israel' invites you to choose within your own mental landscape, not to look outside yourself for validation. This is covenant loyalty: you worship by keeping your inner temple ordered and consecrated, so the outer life reflects a sanctified consciousness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume, right now, that your I AM is ordained as priest within you. Feel the assurance and imagine your thoughts and faculties ministering to the One Life within.
