Biblical Context
Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy elders ascend and gaze upon the God of Israel; they witness a glowing, sapphire-paved presence and share a meal without harm.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the inner man, this scene is the ascent of consciousness, not a geographical climb. The elders represent elevated states of awareness gathered in a single consciousness. 'Seeing God' is the moment when awareness rests in the I AM, and the pavement of sapphire is the steady, clear ground of perception that allows heaven’s body to shine within. When it is written that they saw God and ate and drank without harm, it reveals that true communion is possible whenever feeling and belief are aligned with Presence. The I AM you are does not flee from, nor cling to, form; it accepts and fulfills. The Presence becomes tangible not as a distant event but as the immediacy you realize in imagination. The call to holiness and separation is simply a discipline of attention, selecting the inner sight over mere appearances. So, these verses invite you to cultivate an inner fellowship: assume the presence as already yours, and in imagination taste of the divine life—a meal of harmony within that no outward circumstance can deny.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In a quiet moment, say 'I AM Presence now,' and imagine ascending with the elders to the vision of God, then share a symbolic meal of peace and joy in that inner fellowship.
