Exodus 24:1

Biblical Context

Moses is invited to ascend toward the LORD with a select group, while the people worship from afar.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the language of Exodus, the ascent is a movement of consciousness. The LORD represents the I AM within you, the awareness that you truly are. When Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy elders are invited to come up, it is a symbolic invitation to raise your sense of self above ordinary thought and identification. The command to “worship ye afar off” points not to distance from God, but to an inner posture—worship as reverent attention rather than external ceremony. The theophany promised is not a distant event but an inner realization: the Presence is already present as your essential being. The various figures illustrate levels of mind and reception; all are called to participate in the ascent of consciousness, each surrendering the illusion of separation. By turning from mere outward form to the truth of I AM, you enter a state where what is asked of Israel becomes your lived experience: God, Presence, and holiness arise from within you as you identify with the awareness that you are.

Practice This Now

Impose a practical revision: assume you are already standing in the LORD’s presence. Close your eyes and say, 'I am the I AM present here.' Feel the ascent in your chest, and with each breath, imagine the distance dissolving until worship is a lived inner state rather than an external rite.
