Inner Ear, Eternal Service

Exodus 21:6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Exodus 21 in context

Scripture Focus

6Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.
Exodus 21:6

Biblical Context

Exodus 21:6 describes a servant who chooses lifelong service to his master. The rite—leading to the door or doorpost and an ear-piercing—marks that permanent commitment before the judges.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the figures in this verse as states of consciousness rather than persons. The master becomes the inner governor, the judges the higher faculties of conscience and discernment, and the door and doorpost the opening through which a new state enters your life. The ear pierced is the moment you fix your attention upon the inner command, declaring that you hear nothing but the law you intend to obey. The lifelong service is not servitude to a person but alignment with the eternal covenant of I AM with righteousness and justice. When you imagine yourself as the loyal servant, you are not acting outwardly; you are choosing to live as the state itself. Obedience becomes freedom when it is obedience to the inner law as your true nature. By consenting to this inner allegiance, you release the need for external verification and step into the unity of all life. The judges approve when your choice is grounded in conscious desire and the disciplined use of imagination.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the faithful servant of the inner Law.' Then fix your attention at the doorway of consciousness and feel the inner command as already established, a seal on your choice to align with righteousness.
