Read Exodus 21 in context

Scripture Focus

5And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
6Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.
Exodus 21:5-6

Biblical Context

Verse 21:5-6 describes a servant who openly chooses to remain with his master, wife, and children rather than go free. The ritual confirms his decided lifelong service.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this passage the master is the I AM within you—your constant, unchanging awareness. The servant represents a pattern of consciousness that clings to a familiar identity and thus proclaims, 'I will not go out free.' The door-post and the ear bore the mark symbolize a fixed imprint in the psyche, a belief you have chosen as your reality. To change your life, you must realize you are free to revise any internal identification. The ‘love’ declared is allegiance to a particular internal arrangement; it is not a condemnation of growth but a reminder that you have the power to shift what you claim as real. The Neville method is to assume the end, revise the sense of bondage, and feel-it-real the new state. Begin by affirming a fresh devotion to your inner Master and dwelling in that state until it becomes your natural consciousness, thereby revealing true freedom from limitation.

Practice This Now

Impose the declaration: 'I love my inner Master and choose to remain in the house of awareness forever.' Then feel it-real by dwelling in that state for several breaths, letting the loyalty to your I AM become your only reality.
