Taming the Inner Ox

Exodus 21:36 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Exodus 21 in context

Scripture Focus

36Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.
Exodus 21:36

Biblical Context

Exodus 21:36 warns that a known dangerous ox, if not restrained by its owner, brings liability. The owner must compensate, bearing the consequences in his own life.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the ox as a persistent impulse within the mind, a habit that pushes against your peace. The owner is your I AM—your awareness—that must restrain what you allow to roam in your inner field. If this known impulse has run its course and you have not kept it in, you activate an inner indemnity; you must balance the effect with the power you hold, replacing the wild push with a disciplined image. When you neglect restraint, the dead—lost possibilities and vitality—become yours, for you have allowed your inner economy to misalign. The healing is not in blame but in re-choosing the inner state: assume you already possess the power to govern your thoughts, to set a price upon each destructive impulse, and to replace it with a constructive, proportional image. In that act, the death of the old habit is a gift to your awakened consciousness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine the known ox stepping into your inner field; see your awareness gently restrain it and replace the urge with a calm, guiding image—feel it real.
