Inner Covenant Healing: Exodus 21:18-20

Exodus 21:18-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Exodus 21 in context

Scripture Focus

18And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:
19If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.
20And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
Exodus 21:18-20

Biblical Context

Two scenes portray the consequences of striking. If the wounded man recovers, the offender pays for lost time and must ensure healing; if a servant dies, the offender shall be punished.

Neville's Inner Vision

Verse 18–19 presents two scenes as outward consequences of inner conflict. In this reading, they are states of consciousness: two aspects of your mind contending, with the “striking” representing a harsh reaction born of separation from the I AM. When the wounded man rises and walks, the text says the offender is “quit” and must pay for lost time and healing; this is the inner mechanism that judges time and healing by the belief you hold. The case of striking a servant who dies points to an enslaved mental state that believes itself at the mercy of circumstance and thus deserves punishment. The remedy is to revise these scenes in your imagination: claim the state of health and wholeness as already present, and feel the healing now. Your life reflects your inner state; therefore, make the I AM the ruler of your day by choosing mercy, restoration, and a healed future.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Close your eyes and revise the scene: say, I AM the healed state; imagine the other person thriving, the time lost now restored, and feel the relief as if it is happening in this moment.
