Only One Inner God
Exodus 20:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Exodus 20 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse calls for no rival gods, keeping the I AM alone in your awareness. It signals that inner priorities shape your reality.
Neville's Inner Vision
Exodus 20:3 speaks not of geography or history, but of the state of your consciousness. The ‘no other gods before me’ is a call to make the I AM the sole monarch of your inner kingdom. Every desire, fear, or opinion that pretends to rule is simply a counterfeit god, an image that you have allowed to sit on the throne of awareness. When you identify with a memory, a lack, or a future worry, you are placing another god before the one true Self. The moment you acknowledge that the I AM is the only power, the others dissolve into memories or habits that you can revise by assuming a new inner state. Put the I AM first, and all your outward conditions rearrange themselves to reflect that sovereign consciousness. The feeling is not achieved by strife but by recognition: you are the one who creates, not your creations who create you.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and declare silently: There is only the I AM in me now. Then revise any sense of lack by affirming I am one with the perfect presence of God, here and now.
