Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Moses is told to warn the people to stay distant from the LORD, and the priests must sanctify themselves, lest the holy presence break forth in judgment. This reveals a sacred boundary between human consciousness and the divine.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the LORD as the I AM within you, the presence that cannot be gazed upon in ignorance. Exodus 19:21-22 teaches that the inner temple has boundaries: not every impulse, not every glance into the full divine can be withstood unprepared. The people are your restless thoughts; the priests are your trained faculties—discernment, reverence, and quiet faith. When you sanctify yourself, you revise your self-concept and dismiss the belief that you are merely accidental or unworthy. You become the vessel through which God's energy passes, not by crowding the altar with fear, but by consent, purity, and steady attention. The breaking forth is not punishment but energy seeking expression; when your inner state is aligned, it flows as life, clarity, and power, and you feel the divine presence without being overwhelmed. The warning to "go down" is a reminder to descend into your own consciousness and govern its movements with love and obedience to the I AM within. By inner sanctification you maintain the sacred relationship, and thus you are safe, expanding, and alive in the presence.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, imagine you are inside the holy temple of your mind; declare, 'I am the I AM, I sanctify this thought-world now,' and feel the boundary of calm protection settle.
