Biblical Context
Exodus 19:16-18 shows a dramatic outer sign of God’s presence on Sinai—thunder, smoke, and fire—while Moses leads the people to meet God; the event signals an inner encounter with the I AM.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville, the scenes on Sinai are not distant wonders but inner states of consciousness awakening. The thunder is the insistence of truth arise within you; the cloud is the mystery you must pass through to reach clear awareness; the fire is the burning desire to know the I AM. The descent of the LORD upon the mount signifies your higher self entering your field of awareness, descending as you surrender attachment to the old self; the smoke ascending symbolizes thoughts rising as you align with the truth you hold in mind. When you stand at the nether part of the mount, you are choosing to meet God within, not to flee from Him. The holiness is the shift of loyalty from fear to the inner law of being; the covenant is your decision to let the I AM govern your life. In your present moment, the Sinai is your consciousness, and the mountain is the height to which your awareness can ascend when you acknowledge the I AM as your only present reality.
Practice This Now
Practically, close your eyes, stand mentally at the base of your own Sinai, declare I AM, and feel the inner signs—thunder, cloud, fire—signaling the inward descent of the divine presence; revise fear into reverent certainty and dwell in the felt presence now.
