Stand Still See Salvation

Exodus 14:13-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Exodus 14 in context

Scripture Focus

13And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
16But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
18And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
Exodus 14:13-20

Biblical Context

Moses tells the people not to fear, to stand still, and to witness the salvation God will reveal; the Lord will fight for them as they press forward, and a miracle opens a dry path through the sea.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the theater of your consciousness, fear is but a memory of separation; the tremor of the crowd is a state of lack. The command to stand still calls you to rest in the I AM, the unmovable awareness that can override appearances. The sea before you is not a future barrier but the boundary of a belief that would drown your vitality. By lifting the rod—the decisive act of your spoken word—you part the sea within you, and dry ground appears as your new inner arrangement. The Lord fighting for you is the inward power that rises when you align attention with the divine I AM, and the old fear yields. The cloud and pillar embody God’s presence as light and protection moving behind you, guiding your steps and keeping night from obscuring your way. The Egyptians are but memories of past limitation; as you hold the vision, they fade to memory, and salvation becomes your ongoing state of awareness, not a distant event.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume you are already on dry ground, delivered; feel the release of fear dissolving. Repeat a living affirmation such as 'I AM the salvation of the Lord now,' and dwell in that state for a few breaths.
