Exodus 12:22-23 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Exodus 12 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The Israelites are instructed to strike their doorposts with hyssop dipped in blood, remain inside until morning, so the Lord will pass over their houses and spare them from the destroyer.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the inner sun of your mind, the hyssop is humility, the blood is the awareness I AM, and the doorposts are the boundaries of your inner atmosphere. The cry of distress and the destroyer are simply thoughts of a life lived apart from truth. When you dip the hyssop in the blood, you seal your doorway with unwavering recognition: I AM here, I AM now. The Lord passing over your house is the lifting of fear when the recognized presence fills the room of your consciousness. The Egyptians symbolize old habits and doubts pressing against your mental door; they cannot enter where the blood is seen as real. Covenant loyalty is the alignment of your entire being with the truth that you are already held by divine life. This is not outer salvation but an inward act of consistent assumption that you are safe, protected, and free while the false conditions fade.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and place a mental hyssop at the doorposts of your consciousness, declaring, 'I AM here, I AM now.' Feel the safety of the I AM saturate your inner home and remain in that feeling until it replaces fear.
