Biblical Context
Exodus 12:1–2 records God instructing Moses and Aaron that this month shall be the beginning of months, inaugurating a new yearly rhythm. It points to a shift in consciousness where a fresh inner calendar marks liberty and faithful covenant living.
Neville's Inner Vision
God does not move you by changing the outer world first, but by changing your inner calendar. The land of Egypt represents your present sense of limitation; this word to Moses and Aaron is a summons to awaken to a greater I AM. The month becomes the first month of the year because you declare it so within consciousness. The covenant loyalty and obedience arise as you align with this new rhythm: act from the assumption that you are already free, that the year begins now, and watch the outer world bend to that inner state. The 'law' here is the immutable truth that imagination creates reality; the inward calendar governs the outward course. Your task is to dwell in the feeling that the month has changed within you, and let every choice testify to that reality.
Practice This Now
Assume this new calendar now: declare to yourself, "This month shall be the beginning of months for me," and feel it real in your chest. Then proceed with your day from that starting point for 24 hours.
