Exodus 1:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Exodus 1 in context

Scripture Focus

5And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.
Exodus 1:5

Biblical Context

The verse counts Jacob's descendants as seventy souls because Joseph is already in Egypt. It links lineage to a prior presence that makes the whole community existing in the land.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your seventy souls are not a tally of a past tribe; they are the complete states of consciousness that you, as I AM, can assume. Jacob's loins symbolize the inner seed of your will, the source from which your outward life springs. Egypt stands for the appearing conditions—a stage where your inner drama plays out. Joseph, the dreamer and governor, is already in that Egypt inside your mind; he is the inner image that rules the scene. Therefore the number seventy signifies wholeness: all your faculties united in covenant loyalty to the truth of your being. When you affirm that Joseph is in Egypt already, you affirm that the solution, the leadership, and the sense of belonging are presently present within you, awaiting your conscious declaration. The outer world then becomes a faithful echo of your inner state, not the source of it. Practice turns to the feeling that your inner nation is complete, and the land of your forward life already exists within.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and assume the state that the promised land is already here. Visualize Joseph in Egypt inside your mind, guiding your life as if it were already fulfilled; feel it real now.
