Obedience as Inner Worship
Ephesians 6:5-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ephesians 6 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage urges wholehearted obedience from the heart, not mere outward performance, as service unto Christ and God. It calls for singleness of heart and goodwill in doing God's will.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider that the 'servant' and the 'master' are not external persons but states of consciousness. The command to serve 'as unto Christ' invites you to bring the Christ-present I AM into every function of life. When you are tempted to perform only for eyeservice, you are sensing the lack of singleness; you are aware of a split mind. Now, close your eyes to the outward scene and affirm that the inner ruler—the I AM—has chosen this very moment to express obedience to the Father’s will. In that moment, the will and the heart become one, and the gesture of service is no longer a duty but a prayer. Your inner posture shifts: you are serving God from the heart, because the 'will of God' is simply the alignment of your awareness with its natural movement. The outer conditions—flesh-master, duties, appearances—fall into place as the echo of your inner alignment. The more you persist in this single vision, the more the outer scene reflects it: integrity, humility, and faithful service as an act of worship.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes, declare, 'I am serving this moment as unto the Lord,' feeling the heart's single aim; hold that vision for a minute and then move through your task.
