Body of the Beloved: Inner Nourishment

Ephesians 5:29-30 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ephesians 5 in context

Scripture Focus

29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Ephesians 5:29-30

Biblical Context

No one hates his own flesh but nourishes and cherishes it. We are members of Christ's body, connected as flesh and bones.

Neville's Inner Vision

To you, the verse speaks not of a distant church, but of your own inner state. The 'flesh' is your present consciousness, the body your ongoing awareness. No man hates his own flesh because the self loves its own world of sensation; when you tend it with nourishment and cherishing, you are tending your entire field of experience. The church is the gathered sign of your interior alignment with unity; as you nurture your inner body, you align with the truth that you and the body are one. The bones and flesh of this body are the acts, memories, and feelings you allow to express as your life. Hence the path to Presence is practical: feed your mind with images of health, unity, and love, and cherish every part of your inner being as though it were a beloved temple. When you live from that posture, your relationships reflect your inner unity; you no longer seek church outside you, but recognize the church as the living you, knowing that all belong to the same body.

Practice This Now

Assume, right now, that you are the Lord's body in consciousness; feel it nourished and cherished, your inner bones and flesh alive with unity. If fear or separation arises, revise it by repeating I am the nourishment and cherisher of my own body until it feels real.
