Inner Thanksgiving and Submission
Ephesians 5:20-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ephesians 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul invites gratitude in every circumstance and mutual submission as a divine order. The verses point to an inner alignment with God where all events and relationships are stewarded by conscious awareness.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this passage the reader is called to awaken to the I AM within as the source of all experiences. Giving thanks always for all things is not a plea for better luck but a recognition that every event is a signal of your inner state. When you assume that the Father in you governs all, you align your feeling with gratitude and allow the outer world to reflect that settled consciousness. Saying in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ points to the Christ within as the authority by which you claim your reality, not a historical figure. Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God becomes submission to the divine order present in every relationship and in your own mind, yielding to the good of all rather than asserting personal control. The fear of God is reverence for the inner law that governs you, a warm awe that you are always in the presence of the creative power of God. Practically, you revise each scene to the colour of gratitude and dwell in the sense that your life moves by a perfect, harmonious plan.
Practice This Now
Practice: Sit quietly and revise any scene by stating I am grateful for all things as the I AM within me, and submit to the divine order in every relationship, feeling it real now.
