Scripture Focus

18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Ephesians 5:18-20

Biblical Context

Ephesians 5:18-20 invites you to forego excess and be continually filled with the Spirit, singing in your heart and giving thanks in all things.

Neville's Inner Vision

Paul’s exhortation is not a command to abandon social pleasure but a call to shift your center of gravity from outer stimuli to the indwelling I AM. To be filled with the Spirit is a deliberate change of state, a choice to identify with your inner self as the source of reality. The wine represents distractions; the Spirit is your living imagination, the power by which you co-create experience. When you speak to yourselves in psalms and hymns, you tune the mind to a holy melody, allowing gratitude and praise to rise from the heart as if already true. Giving thanks for all things aligns you with the divine order, recognizing the Father and the Christ within as one life. Saying the name of Jesus Christ signals your identification with that higher Self. The practice is internal: assume the state, feel it real, and let the world rearrange itself to reflect your inner conviction.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, assume you are already filled with the Spirit, and feel gratitude rising; silently declare, 'I am filled with the Spirit, and I give thanks in all things.'
