Walking Wisely Within
Ephesians 5:15-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ephesians 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage urges mindful living: walk as wise, redeem time, seek God's will, avoid excess, be Spirit-led, sing in your heart, give thanks, and submit to one another in reverence.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the verses as instructions for the I AM within your heart. To walk circumspectly is to align your inner state with wisdom rather than impulse; it is a deliberate choosing of perception. Redeeming the time becomes a daily act of re-choosing what you intend to experience, knowing the days are not random but offerings to your higher self. To be not unwise but understanding the will of the Lord is to cultivate a clear inner sense of purpose, a knowing that your thoughts and feelings move to a single prayer: thy will be done in me. Being not drunk with wine but filled with the Spirit is the shift from outer stimuli to inner abundance—let your awareness be saturated with the Spirit till it sings in your heart. Speak to yourselves in psalms and hymns, a constant inward melody that lifts mood and redirects energy. Give thanks always for all things; gratitude becomes a condition of consciousness, transforming even trials into instruments of growth. Submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God is the recognition of the oneness of life: serve, honor, and be served in the divine order within you.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and declare, I am the Spirit guiding my steps. Feel a warm, bright energy filling your chest as you silently hum a simple psalm in the heart, then act from that sense of oneness.
