Walking in Love Like Children
Ephesians 5:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ephesians 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Becoming like God as dear children is the aim; live in love as Christ did, offering yourself as a fragrant sacrifice. The verses call you to imitate divine nature and to express love as your constant state.
Neville's Inner Vision
You are not commanded to perform rites, but to awaken to who you are. The command 'Be ye therefore followers of God' is an invitation to align your present consciousness with the divine I AM. To imitate God is to dwell in the feeling that you are already loved, that your inner state becomes the standard by which you measure every moment. When you walk in love, you are simply obeying your true nature—the same love that Christ demonstrated by giving himself for others. In your imagination, you can feel the fragrance of that offering filling your room—the sweet savor described in the verse is the atmosphere your inner world emits when you act from unity, not separation. See that the 'world' you encounter is a projection of your inner state; shift the state, and the scenes change to reflect it. The act of giving yourself as a sacrifice is the self-surrender of fear to love, the surrender of limitation to the I AM that animates you. As you persist, your ordinary acts become offerings to God, made real by your awareness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume you are a beloved child of God, fully loved and guided by divine affection. Revise any sense of separation by freely giving yourself in love, letting the sweetsmelling savour of Christ’s sacrifice be your atmosphere.
