Children of Light Awake
Ephesians 5:1-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ephesians 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul urges you to imitate God as dear children and walk in love, letting your life reveal the light through truth and gratitude. He warns against impurity, greed, deceit, and empty talk, calling you to live as saints who embody goodness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine, dear soul, that your true self is the I AM, and every command in Ephesians 5 is a description of your state, not a rule over an external world. To be 'followers of God' is to consent to the inner alignment where you are now the beloved expression of love. The 'light' is not a moral light you chase; it is your own awareness shining through every thought. When you once believed you were darkness by habits or fear, you were disconnected from this inner kingdom. Yet Christ's offering is your awareness joined to this I AM, a fragrance arising in consciousness when you settle into gratitude and truth. 'Fornication' and 'uncleanness' are not acts you perform, but states of separation from your divine image—beliefs tempting you to forget who you are. The 'kingdom' is a present reality of God within you; the 'wrath' of God is the clash when you attempt to inhabit two states at once. Awake, you who sleep, and let the light surge through your inner theater. In practice, align your attention to the quality of your inner response, not the outer scene, and the outer will follow.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume you are the state of light now—say 'I am the light of the Lord' and feel gratitude flooding your heart. In conversation today, revise every unkind word to a truth-telling, thankful alternative, proving the light by your choice.
