Inner Walk Beyond Vanity
Ephesians 4:17-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ephesians 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verses describe a mindset flattened by vanity and ignorance, a life separated from God by a darkened understanding and heart blindness. He warns that such alienation leads to unclean acts driven by greed.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the Gentile state is a wakeful habit of consciousness that believes it is separate, independent, and driven by desire. When you walk in vanity of mind, your inner sight grows dim; you call life by names of self-importance and miss the living reality within. The darkened understanding and the blindness of the heart are not punishments but signals that your attention has wandered from the one I AM within you. The alienation you feel is the result of assuming you are merely a body and an ego, and hence you move toward lascivious acts and greed as attempts to fill the hollow with objects. But the I AM is the truth behind all images; you can recondition the mind by assuming the opposite state: that you are awareness that knows no separation; that life, God, and you are one, now. Feel this as present reality; imagine your heart opening, understanding clarifying, and every impulse aligning with this unity. The outer world then follows the inner state, and you walk in grace rather than vanity.
Practice This Now
Assume the revised state now: 'I am the Infinite, I am one with life.' Sit in silence for five minutes and feel the I AM flooding your chest; then go about the day as if separation never occurred.
