Biblical Context
The verses say a person seeks wisdom and to know the earth's workings, but the work of God cannot be fully discovered; even the wise cannot fathom it.
Neville's Inner Vision
The call of Ecclesiastes 8:16-17 is a doorway into a shift of consciousness. What you call 'the work of God under the sun' is not an external mystery to be solved by intellect, but the inner movements of your own awareness that you have yet to align with. When you press outward to understand, you are stepping into the habit of analyzing rather than recognizing the I AM that perceives. Remember: you are that I AM, and every event in life is a movement within your own state of consciousness. The true wisdom is not a ledger of facts but a settled alignment with divine order. You cannot force the unknowable to yield through effort; you succeed by revising your inner image to reflect wholeness and by feeling that completion as real. In this light, Providence is your inner arrangement, and the entire cosmos answers as you consent to that order. Your task is to rest in the inward knowing that the work is already done within you.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and affirm: 'I am the I AM; the complete order of God is now unfolding within me.' Then revise your inner image to reflect that the world operates under divine law, and feel that truth as real.
