Ecclesiastes 8:16

Biblical Context

Ecclesiastes 8:16 describes applying the heart to wisdom to understand earthly activity, noting there is an inner movement unseen by ordinary sight.

Neville's Inner Vision

To apply my heart to wisdom is to turn my entire attention to the inner state from which every outward event flows. The verse invites me to see the business done upon the earth as the outward sign of an unseen movement within consciousness. The day and night, the busy world, are but clocks; they do not reveal the real cause, which resides in the image I entertain of myself and my world. If I dwell in the assumption that I am already the person I wish to be, if I revise every lack into a present fulfillment and feel it as real now, then the inner motion shifts the outer scene accordingly. The business of life becomes a drama produced by my inner I AM, not by chance or external fortune. There are operations beyond ordinary sight; therefore I train myself to observe from the vantage of inner assurance rather than outer appearances. When I persist in the truth that I am the state I desire, the inner realm governs; the earth reflects that state with harmony, direction, and grace.

Practice This Now

Assume the fulfilled state in a vivid inner scene and feel it as real now. Revise any doubt until the sense of I AM governs your outer life.
