Inner Defense: Wisdom and Wealth

Ecclesiastes 7:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ecclesiastes 7 in context

Scripture Focus

11Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.
12For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
Ecclesiastes 7:11-12

Biblical Context

Wisdom is valuable with an inheritance, and both wisdom and money act as defenses. Yet the real value is knowledge, for it gives life to those who possess it.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the inner scripture, you are shown two forms of defense: wisdom as a posture of awareness and money as a symbol of provisioning. The inheritance is the conditioning of your mind—habits of thought that you carry as the ground of your being. When you awaken to the sun—the light of consciousness—you see that both wisdom and money guard you in their own ways, but neither can grant life except as you align with the living I AM. The ‘excellency of knowledge’ is the living vitality that follows from true knowing: a life that is felt, not merely secured. So, the verse invites you to shift from seeking defense in externals to assuming the inner reality of wisdom as your constant state. When you dwell there, wisdom becomes your shield and guide, while money mirrors the security established in awareness. Real security is not possession but the immediacy of life that knowledge bestows, a life that flows when you stand in the truth of I AM.

Practice This Now

Assume you are the I AM, the foundation of wisdom. Revise any sense of lack into inner abundance and feel the life that knowledge gives you as your present reality.
