Inner Appetite and Hidden Providence
Ecclesiastes 6:7-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage speaks of labor being for sustenance and appetite not being filled; wisdom or poverty doesn't change the vanity of human striving, and many things heighten vanity, while the true good remains unknown within life under the sun.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the inner theater of your life, the line 'the labour of man is for his mouth' points to the mental energy you expend chasing forms. The contrast between 'the sight of the eyes' and 'the wandering of the desire' reveals two states of consciousness: presence and restless imagination. You cannot contend with the mightier Power outside you by forcing results; rather, you yield to the greater reality within—the I AM, the source of all order. Since many things increase vanity, the invitation is not despair but discernment: revise your inner state so you are living in alignment with the unchanging good known to consciousness. By acknowledging that the unknown future is simply the mind’s projection, you can rest in the awareness that the divine order is already at work in you. Let your inner image of fulfillment be your truth, and watch the outer world reflect that inner light as a shadow cast by your settled I AM.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, assume the feeling of your need already satisfied, and declare, I AM the presence that provides this now; dwell there until the sense of lack dissolves and the outer world follows your inner image.
