Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage says it is good to eat, drink, and enjoy what one earns, for this is the portion God assigns. Wealth and the joy of the heart are gifts that answer in the present.
Neville's Inner Vision
Verse 5:18-20 presents a simple spiritual economy: what you eat, drink, and enjoy is not earned by toil alone but allocated by your inner state, a gift God gives. In the I AM-centered view, the 'God giveth him' is the I AM within you sustaining the state of abundance. Wealth and the power to enjoy arise from your consciousness as your own act of imaginal belief. The 'joy of his heart' is not a passing mood but the felt sense of dwelling in the state from which experiences spring. When you trust that provision is already present as your inner atmosphere, you stop chasing outside measures and begin living from the conclusion that you are the receiver of your good. The moment you assume the feeling of daily abundance and the privilege of your portion, your outer life aligns to reflect that reality. You are not moving toward a future feast; you taste the feast here and now by virtue of your I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: sit quietly, close your eyes, and imagine you are at a table with abundance already present; feel gratitude and declare, 'I now live in the joy of my heart, my portion is mine.' Then dwell in that feeling for a minute, letting it saturate your senses.
