The Inner Wealth Paradox

Ecclesiastes 5:13-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ecclesiastes 5 in context

Scripture Focus

13There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.
14But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.
15As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
16And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?
Ecclesiastes 5:13-16

Biblical Context

The passage warns of a sore evil: hoarded riches bring harm, and wealth can perish through hard labor, leaving the heir with nothing. It also notes that we come into the world naked and depart the same, with labor yielding no lasting profit.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the present moment, this scripture invites you to examine the state of your consciousness rather than the emptiness of hoarded coins. Riches that cling to ownership arise from a fear-based thought of separation from Source; they flourish only in the imagination of scarcity. When a son is begotten—an external plan or possession—yet the old state remains, you return with nothing in your hand because you have not shifted your inner substance. The greater truth is that you depart unchanged by your bank balance, but you carry the wealth you are inwardly. The cure is simple: assume the I AM presence as your wealth, revise every belief that you are lacking, and feel it real that abundance is your natural state. Then wealth ceases to be something you accumulate and becomes the living energy of your consciousness, circulating through acts of stewardship and generosity. In that inward alignment, the outward becomes a gracious reflection of your inner abundance.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and, for one minute, assume the feeling of wealth as a present inner reality: silently declare I AM wealth and abundance flows through me now, then notice any sense of lack dissolve.
