Inner Return to Vanity

Ecclesiastes 4:7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ecclesiastes 4 in context

Scripture Focus

7Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 4:7

Biblical Context

The verse shows the speaker returning to observe life and finding vanity under the sun, signaling that outward appearances reflect inner conditions.

Neville's Inner Vision

To the reader within, the verse Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun declares the states of consciousness that fashion the world. Vanity under the sun is not a flaw in the outer; it is a condition of awareness that believes in separation. You are the I AM, the aware presence that returns to itself, and so the scene of vanity arises to be seen and loved into transformation. The outer vanity manifests as pursuit, comparison, and emptiness because your belief has assumed you are a man under the sun rather than the sun itself. When you stop seeking outward vanity and return to the one I AM, you revise the entire scene by allowing a new state to occupy you. Assume the feeling that you already possess what you seek; feel it real now. As you dwell in that state, the inner movements rearrange the appearances, and what you called vanity dissolves into the light of your true Being. You are not watching vanity; you are waking from it.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, declare I am the I AM, the fullness of consciousness now, and feel it as present; observe the world as a quiet reflection of your inner state.
