Inner Oppression, Quiet Comfort

Ecclesiastes 4:1-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ecclesiastes 4 in context

Scripture Focus

1So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.
2Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.
3Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 4:1-3

Biblical Context

The passage sees oppression and lack of comfort for the oppressed, the power of the oppressors, and the unsettling comparison that the dead may be at peace more than the living who witness evil.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the I AM, the oppressions under the sun are not outside facts but inner states you wear. The tears of oppression express a belief you carry about power and lack, and the oppressor seems strong only because you align with that belief. Neville teaches that the comforter is the I AM within you, not a person outside. If you assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled, that comfort becomes real now and your inner vision revises the scene. The dead and the living and the unseen future describe the same inner condition: awareness that you are the one who can bring peace. By remaining with this assumption, the evil work loses its grip and a new consciousness arises in which oppression dissolves into peace.

Practice This Now

Practice: Sit quietly, imagine the I AM as the comforter behind both sides, and feel relief now. Repeat the assumption aloud: I AM the comforter; from this moment, peace is mine.
