Inner Wisdom and Toil Revealed

Ecclesiastes 2:26 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ecclesiastes 2 in context

Scripture Focus

26For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecclesiastes 2:26

Biblical Context

God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to the good in His sight, while toil is allotted to the sinner to gather wealth for another. This shows that true riches come from inner alignment, not external accumulation.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the language of consciousness, the verse says the I AM grants wisdom, knowledge, and joy to the state you deem good. The 'sinner' who toils to heap up wealth is merely identified with lack; his external labor mirrors an inner belief that fulfillment lies outside. When you align with the good state—your true I AM—wisdom, knowledge, and joy unfold as natural expressions, and the outer world becomes the echo of that inner provision. The vanity of chasing wealth vanishes when you stop treating provision as scarce and begin to rest in the inner abundance that already belongs to you. The distribution described is not fate but a map of consciousness: you attract what your inner disposition expects. So revise your state, abandon the struggle, and let the inner good be your source; the world will reflect that inner order with wealth, discernment, and praise.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are already the state that the verse says you are: wise, knowing, joyful. Repeat, I AM wisdom, I AM knowledge, I AM joy, and feel the reality of that state as present now.
