Biblical Context
Ecclesiastes 12:8 declares that worldly pursuits are vanity; nothing in form endures. It invites you to look beyond transient appearances to the abiding I AM.
Neville's Inner Vision
Vanity, as Ecclesiastes intends, is not the fault of objects but a misalignment of your inner state with the substance of life. The Preacher speaks of vanity to awaken you from the belief that temporary form contains lasting joy. In the Neville tradition, the world is the screen upon which your inner conviction is projected. When you identify with changing phenomena—wealth, praise, success—you suffer because you forget that you are the I AM, the unchanging awareness that gives life to every image. The remedy is to revise the state you inhabit, not to chase appearance. By assuming a scene that implies the thing you desire—health, abundance, harmony—you become that condition within your own consciousness, and the outer world responds to the inner decree. Vanity dissolves as you dwell in the steadfast reality of I AM. The verse becomes a gentle invitation to persist in inner life, tending the inner garden, and allowing the outer to reflect the truth you have already imagined.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, rest in the I AM, and feel the truth that your inner decree creates your world; say 'I am the I AM' until conviction rises. Then revise a current appearance by affirming that the outer reflects your inner state, and notice the shift as awareness answers.
