Scripture Focus

4And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;
5Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:
Ecclesiastes 12:4-5

Biblical Context

Ecclesiastes 12:4-5 speaks of aging and the quieting of life as doors close, the sounds of the world grow soft, and people move toward their long home. It speaks of fear, burdens, and fading desires in the face of death and the approach of judgment.

Neville's Inner Vision

Here the scripture speaks in symbols, but those symbols are states of your consciousness. The doors shutting and the low grinding are the quieting of outward noise as you withdraw from the world's drama. The rising at the voice of the bird and the dimming music are your inner signals, a shift of attention to the still I AM that witnesses all. Fear of what is high and the path you tread are not prophecies but inner movements; beliefs that threaten, yet they pass when you turn inward. The almond tree flourishing and the grasshopper's burden symbolize conditions in you—vitality and weariness—seen not as facts but as movable images under imagination's law. You are not marching toward death but returning to the eternal you, the I AM, where time and desire are rearranged by consciousness. When you accept that imagination creates reality, you revise these signs by insisting your future exists now in this I AM and feeling it real with calm certainty.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit in stillness and repeat the revised assumption: 'I am the I AM, and the future I desire already exists as my present reality.' Then feel the truth by soft, persistent sensation of that realization for a minute.
