Biblical Context
Generosity without clinging is encouraged: give freely, not for immediate reward. What you release returns to you in its own proper time.
Neville's Inner Vision
Cast thy bread upon the waters is not a map of distant lands but an instruction to the inner man. You are the I AM, the awareness that can decide and declare. When you give—whether time, sympathy, or material support—you release a movement in your own mind. The bread is a seed cast into the waters of your subconscious, where it shall take root as belief, habit, and direction. Do not seek signs in the outer world; instead imagine the end you desire as now accomplished in your state of being. The "many days" are the natural delay as your outer circumstances catch up with your inner posture. Maintain the state of plenty, the posture of one who has already given and already received, and you will find the return arriving in its own season. This is the logic of consciousness: produce a reality by the assumption you hold, and the day will come when the waters return your bread to your shore.
Practice This Now
For seven days, when you offer help or give, close your eyes, breathe, and affirm, 'I give and prosper; the return is already mine.' Then hold the feeling of the wish fulfilled for a moment as you go about your day.
