Right-Hand Wisdom, Inner Ointment

Ecclesiastes 10:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ecclesiastes 10 in context

Scripture Focus

1Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.
2A wise man's heart is at his right hand; but a fool's heart at his left.
Ecclesiastes 10:1-2

Biblical Context

Even a small folly can spoil the reputation of one known for wisdom; the wise keep their heart on the right, while the fool's heart leans to the left.

Neville's Inner Vision

Dead flies are the tiny thoughts that spoil the fragrance of your inner ointment. The wise man's heart at his right hand is the mind aligned with the I AM—clear, steady, and discerning. The fool's heart at his left drifts into ego, opinion, and fear. In Neville's view, outward reputation reflects your inner atmosphere. Permit even a minor discordant thought to linger and you pollute the ointment and your standing in consciousness. Therefore, assume a state of complete inner discernment: dwell in the I AM, hold the posture of wisdom, and watch your inner aroma become irresistible. The change begins in imagination: see yourself as the wise man whose right-hand heart remains calm, patient, and perceptive; revise any claim of folly, and feel the reality of that state now. By revision and feeling-it-real, you reframe your consciousness, and outer scenes adjust to echo that inner allegiance.

Practice This Now

Practice: In a moment, close your eyes and, in imagination, assume the state of the wise man at the right hand. Revise any lingering folly into discernment and feel it real.
