Inner Fragrance, Tiny Folly
Ecclesiastes 10:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse warns that a little folly contaminates even the reputational 'ointment' of a wise person. It points to the fragility of outer esteem, hinging on inner clarity.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the realm of the I AM, the ointment you wear is your living awareness, the aroma by which you are known. The dead flies are small, lingering thoughts or petty impulses that lodge in your consciousness and declare themselves as truth. A person who is reputed for wisdom and honor has not escaped the fragility of mind; a single wayward thought can spoil the entire fragrance if you identify with it. Yet the power lies not in suppressing or blaming the thought, but in a deliberate revision of your inner state. When you notice a minor folly rising, treat it as a fly that has landed on your ointment and say to yourself, I am the I AM pure, wise, and honorable. Feel that conviction as the current running through your chest, and imagine the fragrance clearing. Since imagination fashions reality, dwell in the state you wish others to experience. Your inner revision restores the aroma, and the outward reputation follows from the inner scent you choose to wear.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of pure wisdom now. When a small folly arises, revise it by affirming I am pure wisdom and honor, and feel the inner fragrance returning.
