Remembering the I AM Within

Deuteronomy 8:19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 8 in context

Scripture Focus

19And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
Deuteronomy 8:19

Biblical Context

The verse warns that forgetting the LORD and following other gods leads to destruction.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the inner eye, Deuteronomy 8:19 declares that the moment you forget the LORD your God, you turn away from the I AM that animates you and give your allegiance to empty 'gods'—fears, desires, or external circumstance. In Neville's language, places are states and events are movements of consciousness; to forget is to abandon the awareness that you are the realm of God within. When you walk after other gods you worship limitation, and so you perceive a world that matches that lack. The 'perish' of the text is not a doom pronounced over the flesh, but the death of the old self—an old mental pattern that believes you are apart from Source. Return to the One Power by assuming the truth that you are the I AM, the LORD within, and that all outward forms are but images in your dream. Your obligation is inner remembrance; your reality is the result of your inner state. Let your heart habitually dwell in the Presence, and the outer will reflect that renewed alignment.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Each morning revise your day by silently declaring, 'I am the LORD my God; I remember the I AM within me now.' Then feel the unity, letting the sense of wholeness fill you for a minute.
