Wealth, Pride, and the I AM
Deuteronomy 8:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 8 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse cautions against trusting in personal power to bring wealth. It invites seeing wealth as a product of inner disposition and the I AM within.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of this verse as a mirror for consciousness. When you say in your heart that your power and the might of your hand have produced your wealth, you identify with a separative self who believes in causes apart from awareness. Yet the 'I AM'—the indwelling awareness you truly are—is the sole source through which every form arises. Wealth, in this light, is not the fruit of struggle but the expression of a living state: gratitude, confidence, and faithful attention to the inner image. If you cling to the thought, 'I did this,' you contract your field and close off the higher currents that circulate through your being. Release the sense of personal ownership; align with the I AM as the fountain and flow of abundance. In practice, you claim, 'I am wealth made manifest by the I AM within me,' and allow the outer sign to follow the inner recognition. The moment you revise the ego's boast, you open the gate for prosperity to move as your own inner life expressed outward.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly and affirm, 'I am the I AM, through whom all wealth flows.' Then feel the release of pride and allow abundance to rise as a present sense.
