Read Deuteronomy 6 in context

Scripture Focus

24And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
25And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
Deuteronomy 6:24-25

Biblical Context

God commands us to observe these statutes for our good and to be kept alive. Our righteousness comes from observing them before the LORD.

Neville's Inner Vision

I read this as a teaching of the inner law, not a history of ancient acts. The LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, which becomes the command of the I AM to my own consciousness: observe the inner statutes of disciplined thought, reverence, and steady attention. Fear here is not terror but awe, an unwavering trust in my divine source, which keeps my life vivid and whole. That he might preserve us alive translates to the lifeblood of consciousness: when I align with the inner law, my inner state is preserved and renewed in the present moment. It shall be our righteousness if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God becomes obedience to the inner guidelines as the path of righteousness, lived now before the I AM that I am. As I practice, the external becomes a natural outgrowth of this inner alignment.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state of being kept alive by the inner statutes; feel it real as you imagine the I AM sustaining you. Revise any sense of lack by affirming that you observe these inner commandments in the present and are righteousness now.
