Inner Loyalty to God - Deut 6:13-16

Deuteronomy 6:13-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 6 in context

Scripture Focus

13Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
14Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;
15(For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
16Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
Deuteronomy 6:13-16

Biblical Context

The verse commands reverent loyalty to the LORD and exclusive devotion. It warns against following other gods and tempting the LORD.

Neville's Inner Vision

Imagine that the fear of the LORD is a state of consciousness in which you know yourself as the I AM, steady and undistracted. In this light, to serve Him and swear by His name means to align your entire being with that glowing awareness, to refuse the counterfeit 'gods' of fear, lack, or carnal desire that circle your life. The verse speaks of a jealous God among you, not as wrath directed at others, but as the fierce demand of your own inner wilderness for clarity. When you are tempted to follow a Massah impulse—testing the ground with doubt or measurement—you are tempting your own power to shift and create. Do not forget that the LORD your God is always within you, the source of your decisions and your reality. Your outer world will reflect your continuous choice to accept or deny the image you have of yourself; thus, the call to undivided loyalty is a call to a consistent, inner discipline and trust in the I AM.

Practice This Now

Assume in your heart that you already live under the I AM; feel that loyalty as your present reality and revise any competing image until it dissolves.
