Inner Covenant Of One God
Deuteronomy 5:6-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God declares Himself as deliverer and demands exclusive loyalty. He forbids idols and promises mercy to those who love Him and keep His commands.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider that 'I am the LORD thy God' is not a distant tribal proclamation but the awakening within you: the I AM that knows no separation. The exodus from Egypt is the withdrawal of attention from the hypnotic image of bondage—the fear of lack, the belief in limitation—and a moving toward inner liberty. The prohibition of other gods and of images is a discipline of the mind: you must not worship counterfeit causes, for every idol is a false attribution of power away from your own I AM. The 'jealous God' line expresses that you cannot share your allegiance with illusions; your inner state must be singular, focused. The 'iniquity of the fathers' becomes your patterning—old beliefs handed down—yet the text promises mercy to those who 'love me and keep my commandments'—that is, who maintain the feeling of the one God and act from alignment with that truth. In your world of forms, events appear when your inner state agrees with it; therefore the world is your own dream.
Practice This Now
Assume the consciousness of the I AM as your sole Lord. Close your eyes, feel the release from bondage, and insist, 'I am free now,' then act from that inner truth in daily choices.
