Stand by Me: The Inner Law
Deuteronomy 5:31 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God instructs Moses to stand beside Him as He speaks all the commandments, statutes, and judgments. This teaching is to be shared so the people may learn and live them in the land God promises to give them.
Neville's Inner Vision
To stand by the speaker is to stand by the I AM within. Moses says, let the commandment come from the God that speaks in you, not from fear or memory alone. If you would possess the land God promises, you first attend to the inner order—the 'statutes' and 'judgments' become your habitual states of awareness. The commandment is not a distant law but a living pattern you choose to embody in every moment. When you assume the feeling that you already teach them, you are not prescribing outward behavior; you are aligning your inner disposition so that the action flows from the I AM. Obedience then is fidelity to your own awareness, a covenant loyalty to the truth you are learning to hold as real. The people you would teach are the countless aspects of yourself, the habits and wants that must be guided by this inner law. The land to possess is the moment you realize this inner sovereignty, and the outward world reflects that inner state as you continue to stand by the I AM and speak the commandments through your life.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, stand by the I AM within, and hear the God-voice speak the commandments to you. Revise any resistance until obedience feels like your natural, lived state.
